My Industrial Rooster/Chicken Chair

This vintage industrial stool has been laying around our plant for a very long time.   I thought it might be fun to put some new life into it.
This fabric is why......
I love this Rooster and Chicken fabric I saw it at Joann's but just never bought it because I couldn't decide what to do with it.  After all, my fabric collection is getting massive and I couldn't justify adding to it.  But, then I saw that rusty chair and the rest is history!  And BONUS! I was happy to find a spray paint that matched the red!   It's Colonial Red Gloss by Rustoleum.   It covered this metal chair very well.   (I have used this paint in different colors for several projects now and really like it.  This is just my opinion and Rustoleum did not ask me to test it or pay me anything!  I'm pretty sure they have no idea who I am!)
Well..here is the deal after I removed the back.  Lots of gunk from decades of masking tape.  Not easy to get rid of this stuff but used lacquer thinner ( I only use this when I have no other choice) and basically scraped it off.  Just wanted to show y'all - see why it needs a new life?
Next step: remove the nuts, bolts, and washers to take the chair apart.  Took the pieces outside and put them on my trusty old shower curtain and spray painted them.  If you are new here you will learn that I like to use sticks from broken tree limbs underneath the pieces I am painting.  Makes life easier that way.  :)

I did it! Finished my Spring pillow in time for Summer. Ha!

I love this fabric!  It is part of my stock pile of beautiful fabric that is growing faster than the speed of light!  Just kidding.   But.... I am a real sucker for color and fun fabrics.  Put a 40% coupon in my hand and I can't resist.
Found this fabric at JoAnns.  It is an envelope 14 x 14 inch pillow.  And FYI - I sort of messed up and actually cut this !4 x 14 inches (instead of 15 inch square) and stitched each seam at 1/4".  It actually fit very well over the pillow form.   I remember seeing somewhere that pillows actually are "fluffier" when made the same size or smaller than the pillow form/insert.   Oh - I am finding that post.  Tomorrow!
Just a sampling - and I didn't even begin to include my burlap or denim! :)

Cherry Coke Zero Frame for my Sister!

Here in the South I grew up with Cherry Smash and Vanilla Coke.  Love vanilla but never really enjoyed it in my fountain Coca Colas.  However, the cherry version and I have lots of history and I love it!  (and Cheerwine, too but that's another story for another day)
I know, I know, sodas aren't good for you with all the coloring, the sugar, the acid, etc.  But I really enjoy a cold Cherry Coke Zero once in a while.
And so does my sister, Nancy.  Her family nickname is Gicki and the name suits her cute self well!  How cute is that name?   Instead of coffee in the morning she pops a Coke!  So, I had been thinking and wondering how to make something for her using the coke cans.

Everything was falling into place for a frame but I was struggling with how to make the flowers.  Then I saw a post on Crissy's Craft where she makes the most beautiful flower from a tin can.  I was battling a burdensome tin cutter when all I needed were some good scissors!
Thank you Cris!

I Won a Giveaway - Beautiful Mini Elevenses from c.w.frosting!

For the first time EVER I actually won a giveaway over at c.w.frosting  (one of my favorite blogs!)   I fell in love with her anthropologie inspired  Elevenses candles and when I saw her Mini Elevenses candle I was hooked!      So... when I learned she was giving the Mini away for her fabulous blog's First Birthday I couldn't resist.  I really couldn't.

And YAY lucky me - I won for the first time ever  :)  I love this candle and it arrived today!  It's as wonderful in person as it looks in the picture.  So happy and deciding where I will enjoy it the most - pictures coming soon.
Caroline's blog is one of my "go to blogs"  She is so creative, original, and just pure delightful!   Go visit her blog and you will know what I am talking about!
